Dream 3-28-10: Froggy and Hugo the Clown

Dream 3-28-10

That night I had two dreams. Both vivid and definitely interesting.

The first dream was, well, I don’t remember much. I was in a large vintage warehouse. Whereupon I discovered another version of my one-of-a-kind toy Froggy! Surprised as I was it had the tags still attached. We then went inside a documentary about the creator, who looked like Wilkes Booth. Turns out Froggy was a stuffed-frog toy franchise that also had Froggy with a wife and two kids, all coming with yellow clothing in the 80’s…though the pictures and stuff weren’t…80’s…more like the squirrel puppet franchise my grandma has, from the 60’s. Soon the dream took a darker turn out in a warped version of our yard in small scale surrounded by dark red fence. There were these gothic boy twins and something about them possessing people…they were dressed, well, Victorian young-boy gothic. It made me think of that ASoUE movie.

I woke up after that, seeing it was 8:27. I decided I should sleep in longer, which I did. I began my dreaming with half-awake to final sleeping fantasies of The Knave of Hearts from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland film I haven’t even SEEN yet.

I'd say its srs business if there's dreams of him.

Frankly, it became more complicated once I reached sleep. I had crawled from the room into a facility…namely a converted high school that was turned into some sort of brothel. I went into a room in the dim lighting to find people just, well, going at it. I got out of there quite quickly.

Unfortunately when I stepped out into the un-lit hallways, only the light from the cloudy day, there was a clown apocalypse! There were cartoon goofy short clowns running around throwing pies and honking horns. I ran past them, into the restricted section of the converted school. All dark I went up a flight of stairs…to find…

A children’s physic’s classroom. Little yellow kiddie seats in the dark, facing the chalkboard, to the left a little aisles of library books. At the end, was a small stage with heavy curtains and ominous gargoyle-like figures above, lit by floodlighting. Everying was quiet and still. Now usually in dreams for me there’s always sound and moving…but this time there wasn’t, not to mention I wasn’t out-of-body, I was in my own body, breathing and moving slowly towards the curtain where, for sure, something I actually HOPED would pop out to make the dream interesting.

The curtains pulled away revealing a large people of colored paper….through which the floating head of Hugo the Clown came out of to attack with maniacal laughter! 😩 A character I love drawing, so sinister, sexual and evil.

In fact, now to mention it, I made-up Hugo two years ago because he popped out of the wall of a children’s daycare center he massacred in a dream I had where it was dark and something to do with innocence…urk.

Onwards, his body materialized and I backed off whereupon, following me, he got his body back. He then was writing on a marker board the chemical equations as he pondered aloud in an indescribable voice how he was awakened. It involved the positioning of certain Physics instruments but, since I am his creator, I didn’t need to do that. He kept remarking that there was a connection he felt between us, which was true, because I am his creator even though he has more power over me. Which was made manifest when, upon realizing this, pinned me to the wall. Worse I was in-body for this so it felt like he really WAS holding me by the shoulders…

And worser, he was smirking devilishly, pressing against my body, smothering me. I don’t remember what he said, but soon, swooning, I grabbed my brother’s hand. Turns out my brother came up to find out what was going on.

Once Hugo left my personal bubble I left, knowing after figuring it out that I’m somewhat important I ran. I left the building, leaving the boss yelling from the school-like office room going ‘WHERE ARE YOU GOING?’ Me and my brother left into our house. Looking out of the window of my parents room upstairs, I saw he sent out a GIANT dog and a normal sized Cheshire cat to get me! I waited till they went around the other side of the house when I climbed to the roof and ran off, in the snow *somehow* to the woods. I knew that, apparently in this dream world, into the woods would yield to the hidden city deep inside. I was followed by two Labrador Retrievers working for Hugo to fetch me. Strangely they stayed back as I ran…only to find they led me into a trap, for the other side of the snowy path was the back of the school where Hugo was waiting. I was not happy about that.

The end.

Dream 2-10-10: Alternate world and Harry & Marv.

Dream 2-10-10

It had begun in our backyard, at night. As it were I was looking about, and the world was green and blue as it should be. But to my wondering eyes should appear, but it inverted into how ‘Canada’ should be!

The world inverted to red trees and dark red things. The grey road turned reddish grey, and part of it on the sides was cobblestone brick. Apparently ‘Canadians’ you go walking the street the opposite of what you’re supposed to…so, here I was, cars going past behind me to front, walking with my sister and grandma on the cobblestone, inverted in the world. Finally I came home after the terrible backwards ordeal I just went through.

It was even more night, and as I flew into the window of my bedroom I saw meteors in the sky, showering the heavens. I watched with my family as a strange alien ghostly being was talking in the sky! It was like…really out of place, and terrifying to me. Well it turned into a giant magical projection all over the world of a Hollywood channel talking about Michael Jackson or something…my parents though wouldn’t believe me that it was human-made and just some weird joke on us. I mean really, it was obvious!

Then, it morphed into something else. I recalled that my school was choosing students, with alien robots, to murder if they got good grades. I watched the process as the robots at the desk grabbed the student’s head and disintegrated it. Now that isn’t be logical or nice, so I began to run…slowly, since my dreams always hinder my main movements. >_<

As I went down the imaginary wonderful world of my dead-end street that always turns into an awesome place of neighbors and houses and woods, Harry and Marv from the Home Alone series began to chase me!

Sure they look nice now. Wait till they become humorous 90's villains.

I mean like seriously, didn’t expect THAT. But after all, they were in two movies of elaborate chases and hilarity, so no surprise there they are perfect for this formula.

I kept running and hiding everywhere, in homes and places you would think they wouldn’t expect. I was wrong, a lot, all these people’s home, failures to hide they were always just a little ways behind me.

I had gone into a nice darkened home, similar to my altered grandparent’s home from a previous dream. There was Christmas trees and all sorts of fake snow everywhere, and it turns out this WAS my adopted home with  my siblings inside. Well, as I went through the maze of the house, my new ‘dad’ hovering nearby, I didn’t trust this place enough to hide in, the hiding spots were obvious.

So I went outside, and they were way farther back than I thought! I would go to the airport in the strip mall  I just went into from the back door of the house. There I was, running down the big mall hallway, slowly and restricted of course from my dream’s terrible gravity, into the airport….

…whereupon they were there waiting for me, behind me.

CRAP

I got out of there real quick, vaguely hearing my sister calling out. I went down the mall hall besides a steampunk Costco, the whole place turning brown and grey bricked and different styled…and I came across a frisbee tossing clown.

As I laughed and was jogging (slowly) past him, more and more of his local clown buddies were coming in, juggling and all sorts of stuff. They looked like they were hot teenager boys under the outfits, but I was backed into a corner, my smile fading as they turned all gold and metallic and took the shapes of sinister evil, violent, blood and lusting clowns.

As I became trapped by giant clown arms I saw Harry and Marv just in the crowd of horrified people watching, laughing. I knew I made strange sounds, in terror of course, there were golden demonic clowns on top of me!

I then was back at the building where they were sorting out the students to be slaughtered. Obviously I must have been blacked out after knowing, in the dream, I suffered some incredible torture of some sort…and was back here where I was supposed to be. I complained to our principal who was very helpless under the power of the alien robots about how this whole thing was wrong. I then ran out to escape…but I thought better of it and stayed at my desk with some others. Special white and blue police came and yelling and with big guns as they ran past the doors into our street, now an enclosed mall-like space, after to slaughter escapees. I remarked how glad I was I didn’t escape at that moment, and I was waking up into full consciousness.

Beware the Grease-painted Ones

As last month’s post, I had found a lovely blog for clowns and clown enthusiasts, clownalley.blogspot. However in contrast…I have found a general opposite to this serious happy-normal clown blog. I found a website dedicated to the media and works of clowns projected as, well, evil.

Clownz.com.

Disturbing real news articles, pictures, artwork, links, games, etc. This place homages to all things anti-clown, whether making fun of them, fueling your Coulrophobia, or dabbling in the beauty of nasty evil clowns in art, movies, video games.

Another aspect of things to do with evil clowns is the popularity spurt recently. The 80’s and early 90’s had a peak of the evil clown subject in our entertainment with many slasher and horror movies/books  such as Clownhouse, Killer Klowns from Outer Space and IT. The 90’s then continued to a lesser-degree of the evil clown archetype by having some evil clowns in video games, and are now adopted as a cannocal ‘meme’, I would say, along with zombies, vampires, pirates, ninjas, etc.

Since the 2000’s however the rise of ‘evil clownage’ has become quite high. DC comics have become more and more mainstream and known and with it the popularity of the Joker, and evil clown, with not even help from the success of The Dark Knight. The ‘cannocal meme’ of evil clowns in video games, media, and internet meme has continued further and further. Pre-made D&D adventures sometimes are a plot of an evil carnival. Gothic music and horror musicians following from the fore-father Alice Cooper’s steps make music about evil clowns as a popular subject. There is talk of a new movie version of Stephen King’s IT. There has been an increase thusly of Coulrophobia, as the clown styles have changed. Modern birthday clowns usually don’t wear as much ‘augustian’ white face, but that is not only for reasons of society’s fear and picking-on their trade.

Certainly the traditional heavily painted faces of clowns from, say, the 50’s is definitely more prone to frighten people than the not-so white-faced clowns of today.

Lou Jacobs Soodles the Clown

VERSUS

With all this in mind, I have seen the proof myself. Last time in a Halloween store was 2007; not alot of pre-packaged clown costumes. Now in 2009 where I visited two different Halloween costume companies I was surprised at the amount of vile clown masks, decorations, makeup, costumes and etc. of all varieties. There were evil mime and harlequin outfits, vicious skull jesters of two colors, almost-Pennywise faced masks, blood-thirsty jesters, hanging dummies of motion-activated clowns that roared with maniacal laughter when passed by. Luckily there was even more assortment of normal, regular clown costuming and makeup, but that was less attractive than the expensive if you, say, wanted to become a chainsaw-massacreing birthday clown. Certainly the popularity of The Dark Knight that came out last year has certainly helped this influx along into another peak of popularity widespread; Evil clowns are the in thing. And now the internet meme of the zombie clown from the popular Zombieland movie that just came out has assured us that evil clowns are to stay awhile longer.

Ashes to Ashes: A Batman Fanfilm

Ashes to Ashes

I have come across a very interesting, French, big budget fanfilm of the Batmanverse. Grim and in my opinion extremely awesome. A depressing portrait of a man who was unfortunately involved with Harleene and The Joker.

I personally find the compositional format of black, red and white throughout this high-contrast movie *reminiscant of 300* to match the Harleene theme and a gothic style comic book format.

*WARNING* Violence, sex, bad words in French.

English subtitles.
